CEREAL YIELDS IN FRAGILE STATES: THE ROLES OF ECONOMIC GROWTH, INFLATION, CLIMATE VARIABILITY, AND GOVERNANCE

This repository contains the replication dataset and supporting documentation for the manuscript titled “Macroeconomic Instability, Climate Variability, and Cereal Yields in Fragile States: Evidence from Dynamic Heterogeneous Panels.” The study uses a balanced annual panel covering 15 countries and 315 observations over the period 2002–2022. The archived dataset includes the variables YEAR, COUNTRY, govE, POL, GDPPCC, INF, RF, TEM, POPG, and CY. These correspond to government effectiveness, political stability, GDP per capita, inflation, rainfall, temperature, population growth, and cereal yield. The dataset was compiled from publicly available sources. GDP per capita, inflation, population growth, and cereal yield were drawn from the World Development Indicators (WDI). Government effectiveness and political stability were drawn from the Worldwide Governance Indicators (WGI). Rainfall and temperature were drawn from the World Bank Climate Change Knowledge Portal (CCKP). The repository includes the final panel dataset in Excel and CSV formats, a codebook, source and extraction notes, and country coverage information. For full empirical replication, users should also consult the transformation/estimation files used to generate logged variables and reported regression outputs.
