Engineering a dysbiotic biofilm model for testing root caries interventions through microbial modulation. We developed and optimized an in vitro model of a dysbiotic root caries biofilm for studying the modulation of its microbial composition. This model was used to evaluate the potential of various compounds to modulate root surface biofilms and thereby influence root caries progression. Specifically, we investigated the effects of natural substances applied during biofilm formation or on a pre-established biofilm.
