资源简介:
This dataset is derived from a study that aimed to evaluate fractures of the axial and appendicular skeletons in crab-eating foxes (Cerdocyon thous) admitted to a Reference Center for Wild Animals. A retrospective review of medical records and plain radiographs was conducted for 74 free-ranging C. thous over a period of 10 years. The primary objectives of this study were to assess the frequency and types of skeletal fractures in crab-eating foxes (Cerdocyon thous) admitted to a Reference Center for Wild Animals, and to characterize the specific locations of these fractures in the appendicular and axial skeletons. The study also aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment protocols and the outcomes for these animals, including survival rates and rehabilitation success. The presence of multiple traumas contributed to a high rate of mortality and complications. This study was conducted under the protocol approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee on Animal Use (CEUA 0156/2021). Steps to reproduce the data analysis and statistical procedures are described in the article "Retrospective analysis of fractures in crab-eating foxes (Cerdocyon thous; Linnaeus, 1766).
