GEOXYGEN is a global gridded dissolved oxygen dataset with 0.5° spatial resolution and monthly temporal resolution, spanning from January 1960 to June 2024. It covers 176 standard depth levels ranging from the sea surface down to 5500 m. The zonal grids are not strictly equidistant, with higher grid density in high-latitude regions. This dataset is developed via a regional and depth-stratified machine learning reconstruction framework, which is trained on multi-source in-situ dissolved oxygen observations paired with objectively analyzed temperature, salinity, and environmental predictors for reconstruction. The observational data have undergone systematic quality control procedures, including data homogenization, quality flag filtering, removal of terrestrial samples, duplicate record detection, standard depth level mapping, and outlier inspection. This dataset is released in CF-compliant NetCDF format, suitable for climatology and long-term variability analyses. Usage Note: Due to the significantly higher uncertainty in nearshore areas compared to open oceans, coastal and continental shelf applications should prioritize spatially aggregated and temporally averaged fields over individual original grid cells.
