The data was collected to assess the knowledge and attitude of students towards school based sec education in Kathmandu. A semi structured questionnaire was used. The questionnaire was divided into the following sections: 1. Socio demographic information 2. Knowledge regarding sex education 3. Attitude towards sex education 4. Prioritization of topics to be included in the curriculum 5. Source of information for sex education and 6. Age to start sex education. Each of the questions in the knowledge question had only one correct answer. The correct answer was given a score of 1 while the wrong answers were scored 0. The sum of all the questions was calculated by adding the scores of all the questions. Participants who had a score of 9 or above (i.e. 80% correct answers out of 11 questions) were regarded as having good knowledge while participants scoring less than 80% were regarded as having poor knowledge . The scale of attitude was a five point Likert Scale whose values were : 1- Strongly disagree, 2- Disagree, 3- Neither agree nor disagree, 4- Agree and 5 – Strongly Agree . The attitude score of each respondent was obtained by adding the values for each statement. The average was obtained by adding the highest and lowest score and dividing the sum by 2. The respondent who obtained the total score above the average had a positive attitude while those who obtained the total score below the average had negative attitude.Ethical approval was taken from the Institutional Review Committee of Nobel College. Approval was also taken from the Principal of the schools and informed consent was taken from the students before their participation in the study.<br>
