A novel internal aeration microaerobic reactor (IAMR) was built and operated for 140 days to treat manure-free piggery wastewater with high ammonium and a low ratio of chemical oxygen demand to total nitrogen. The microbial community in IAMR was detected by 16s rDNA amplicon sequencing.
