Microscopic magnetic properties of van der-Waal Ferromagnet CoxFe5-xGeTe2 and Fe5GeTe2.

The discovery of 2d van-der Waal magnets is very exciting but the lack of understanding the physics behind it makes it difficult to predict their properties and use them for realistic spintronic devices. Here we propose to study Fe5GeTe2 and Co doped Fe5GeTe2 to understand the origin of enhanced curie temperature and the effect of Fe occupancy (giving non-centrosymmetry) and interplay between magnetic order and electron conduction for itinerant ferromagnets.
