When a disaster strikes humanitarian agencies need to design comprehensive emergency operations. They need to know what to bring and in which quantity. How many shelters? How many tons of food? These needs assessments are conducted by humanitarian experts, based on the first information collected, their knowledge, and experience. Past disaster data can be helpful to develop AI models that can predict the impact and relief/aid requirement more accurately and quickly. Omdena Cyclone Dataset is a curated dataset that has been developed combining multiple sources including pdf reports, web search, and previous cyclone records available.
