This study provides the genome sequence and annotation of the Staphylococcus epidermidis strain Tu3298. This strain is known to produce the staphylococcal lantibiotic epidermin, and has been used as popular lab strain in the staphylococcal community for 30 years. The illumina myseq platform was used to sequence the genome, and Velvet Optimiser was used to assemble the gem one into contigs.
