Scientific Reports.Key:Examination of the impact of 2-stroke & 4-stroke 30hp Suzuki boat engine sound on the behaviour and space use of Pomacentrus wardi light trap caught recruits.3 min behavioural observations. Fish caught in light trap, kept overnight and placed on Pocillopora patch reefs that were a combinatuion of live and dead (50:50).Fish were given 10 min to acclimate without boat noise. 2 x 3 design with 2 sounds (ambient and boat) and 3 cues (SW, Hetero= Apogonid, CAC). 60 mls Cues released from a 1.5m tube; CAC made from the sides of one juvenile fish. Boat travelling 30 to 80 m from sites in a figure-8 loop. Depth 2-3m Location: Casuarina Beach, Lizard islandStartle response: Cassuarina beach in same spot. Using 80ml jars on startle frame. 120fps with GoPro.Figure showing how angle of the fish was calculated with respect to the looming stimulus
