Foreword to version 2

In this version 2 of the dataset, the file "Moisture_density_LVL.csv" was replaced and now includes correct values of moisture content and density.

Overview of the contents of the dataset

Types of tests

This dataset contains results of:

density and moisture content tests on LVL samples (DIN 52183:1977);

tensile on steel dowels (DIN 6892-1:2017-02);

bending tests on steel dowels (EN 409:2009);

friction tests between steel dowels and timber;

embedment tests (EN 383:2007);

experiments on single-fastener dowelled steel-to-timber connections with one or two slotted-in steel plates (EN 26891:1991); and

experiments on multiple-fastener dowelled steel-to-timber connections with one or two slotted-in steel plates, in tension, with and without eccentricity of the applied axial load (EN 26891:1991).

Types of results

The results in the dataset comprise:

density and moisture content of the LVL members;

strain-stress curves from tensile tests on the steel dowels;

moment-rotation curves from bending tests on the steel dowels;

displacement-friction coefficient curves from friction tests between steel dowels and timber;

displacement-force-embedment stress curves from embedment tests;

displacement-force curves from compression and tension tests on single-fastener connections;

displacement-force curves from tension tests on multiple-fastener connections;

surface strains from digital image correlation (DIC) analyses.

The results are stored in separate folders, each containing a "0_README.txt" with specific info about the corresponding data.

Materials

The experiments included in the dataset were performed using:

timber members made of spruce laminated veneer lumber (LVL) without cross layers; and

dowels made from bright mild steel bars with circular cross-section, with a diameter of 10 mm, of grades S235 and S355.
