Sequences of Salmonella Typhi isolated from Typhoid fever cases and asymptomatic carriers in Kenya

The aim of the study is to identify the role of asymptomatic carriers of Salmonella Typhi in the persistence and transmission of typhoid in an endemic setting in Kenya. Data obtained informs on the antimicrobial resistance patterns of circulating strains, this will influence public health approaches aimed at reducing typhoid transmission and the burden of infection.
