SSB has since 1967 conducted surveys on the use of mass media. From 1991, Statistics Norway annually conducted quarterly surveys of media use. The objective of the survey is to map out the extent of people's usage of mass media, give an image of seasonal varieties in this usage, find out what kinds of media and channels different demographic groups utilizes, as well as measuring what sorts of media channels different demographic groups have access to. The surveys are published annually in Norwegian Media Barometer.
