ACS Health Insurance Coverage by Geography

Overview This feature service provides American Community Survey health insurance coverage data for U.S. geographies at the state, county, and census tract levels. It includes population counts for civilian noninstitutionalized residents and summarizes how coverage is distributed across major age groups. Feature Layers State — State boundaries with summary estimates for total civilian noninstitutionalized population, age-group population totals, health insurance coverage categories, uninsured counts, and calculated uninsured percentages. County — County boundaries with the same health insurance coverage measures, supporting county-level comparison and regional health access analysis. Tract — Census tract boundaries with detailed local estimates for population totals, coverage types, uninsured counts, and uninsured rates for fine-scale neighborhood analysis. Coverage and Content The service focuses on health insurance status for three age groups: under 19 years, 19 to 34 years, 35 to 64 years, and 65 years and over. Coverage categories include employer-based insurance, direct-purchase coverage, Medicare, Medicaid or means-tested public coverage, TRICARE or military coverage, Veterans Affairs health care, multiple coverage, and no health insurance coverage. The layers also include calculated summary fields for total uninsured population and uninsured percentage.
