This series contains images in various formats produced by Public Works' official photographers. Included are images documenting significant heritage premises and construction and restoration projects pertaining to historic properties, public buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, police stations, court houses, gaols, railway stations, and infrastructure undertakings such as dams, wharves, water supply and sewerage treatment works, plus photographs of events such as official openings and royal visits. There are also views of landscapes and localities, including many aerial photographs. Some of the images are reproductions of original items dating back to the 1840s, which were produced or collected by Public Works from about the late 1940s.Formats include black and white and colour photographs, positives, negatives and slides.It should be noted that, in many cases, the start and end dates in the listings provided by the transferring agency cannot be verified as many of the images are not physically dated.
