VPRS 14489 Register of Births, Deaths and Marriages

This series consists of the record kept when the Department of Crown Lands and Survey was informed of births, deaths or marriages which affected leases or licenses to occupy. Most entries are for marriages and record the forwarding of a marriage certificate or a certified extract of one to the Department.Details recorded are the names of individuals who were born, married or died, the nature of the document and the date of its production, the date of the event, the correspondence number or file number and to whom the document was returned and when. The remarks column allowed for notes regarding differences in name between entries on a certificate and those known at the Department and for the listing of surviving issue with their ages in the case of death notifications.
