Recovery dynamics of plant-fungal relationships following the cessation of nitrogen enrichment

Plant-fungal interactions are integral to ecosystem functioning, and elevated atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition has a notable impact on these interactions. Nevertheless, the regulatory mechanisms underlying the effects of chronic N deposition and the subsequent reduction in N deposition on plant-fungal interactions remain poorly understood. We examined the influence of N disturbances on plant-soil fungal associations through a simulation experiment, which included both the addition of N and the subsequent cessation of N addition in a semiarid steppe.
