Robust Topology Estimation and Fault Location for Power Distribution Networks: From Theoretical Foundations to Practical Applications

This thesis develops new methods to improve the monitoring and reliability of electricity distribution networks. Using data collected from household smart meters, it demonstrates how to reconstruct the hidden wiring of low-voltage networks and estimate transformer performance without additional sensors. For medium-voltage networks, it enhances a fault-finding technique known as electromagnetic time reversal, making it more practical for complex networks and difficult fault conditions. These advances provide electricity companies with more accurate tools to locate faults and manage their networks efficiently and safely.
