Transcriptional changes associated with functioning and non-functioning Pituitary adenomas.

The reasons why some pituitary adenomas are fucntioning(secreting hormones) or not is not well understood. This analysis dig into the transcriptomes of secreting and non-secreting corticotropic adenomas as well as non-fucntioning gonadotropic adenomas. Human pituitary adenomas were banked following surgical resection (MCW brain tumor bank). Classification of the pituitary adenomas was done on clinical presentation, complemented by pathology analysis.mRNA was extarcted and RNA-sequencing was performed.
