Images from an Archaeological Evaluation at Cafe Field, Standon Hill Road, Standon, Hertfordshire 2016

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology in November 2016 on behalf of CgMs Consulting at Cafe Field, Standon Hill Road, Standon, Hertfordshire. Thirty eight trenches were excavated representing a 2.5 percent sample of the proposed development area. Trenches 1 to 5 in the western part of the site were targeted on anomalies identified by a previous geophysical survey, however, only two features uncovered within Trench 4 corresponded with the survey results. Furthermore, a number of features uncovered in Trench 38 also corresponded with an area of anomalies identified during the geophysical survey.
