VPRS 15355 Biography Files (Education History Unit)

This series consists of files containing biographies of teachers employed by the Education Department, administrators and Ministers responsible for Education. These files were created, received and maintained by the Education History Unit. Individual biographies were created by the unit for a number of reasons including the preparation of the centenary history of the Department in 1970 and in response to requests received from within the Department and members of the public. Files also include biographies that were sent to the Unit from schools or members of the public.Each file contains a number of biographies for individuals whose surnames begin with a particular portion of the alphabet. The biographies are usually in point or note form. Individual biographies may also contain correspondence to and from the Unit from individuals or the Department and published articles or copies of Departmental records about the subject. Many of the copied Departmental records are held by PROV, including VPRS 13718, which was also held by the Unit for a period.
