Dataset for: Instantaneous stabilization of floating oils by surface application of natural granular materials (beach sand and limestone)

Experiments were performed with South Louisiana crude oil contaminated salt water, limestone, and quartz. Fine (greater than 0.3 mm and less than 0.075 mm) particle sized quartz was tested, and both fine and medium (greater than 2.0 mm and less than 3.0 mm) particle size limestone were tested in 4 trials each. This dataset reports the amount of oil in different phases after particles were added to oil contaminated salt water.
