Because genome of pitaya had not yet been sequenced, we constructed the pooled transcriptome of H. undatus as substitute to find the potential precursors of miRNAs and target genes, which could increase the likelihood of finding more miRNAs, especially for drought-responsive miRNAs and give more comprehensive information of miRNAs.
