Responsible Suspension and the Preservation of the Subject: Toward a Philosophical Framework of Dynamic Agency

AbstractThis paper develops a systematic philosophical framework centered on the preservation of the subject. In contrast to traditions that prioritize truth, utility, or social structures, the present account argues that the primary task of practical reason is the protection of agency under conditions of uncertainty, existential pressure, and excessive commitment. The framework integrates thirteen interconnected concepts, including Responsible Suspension, Subjective Seepage, Dynamic Mask Theory, Reflexive Suspension, the Principle of Dynamic Preservation, and the Principle of Sufficiency. It is argued that human beings do not collapse suddenly but gradually undergo processes of subjective erosion through excessive practical investments. Consequently, rationality should not be understood merely as the capacity to make decisions, but also as the capacity to regulate commitment, interpretation, and identity.
