Public Postsecondary Tuition and Fees

This dataset contains undergraduate tuition and mandatory fees for each public Massachusetts institution of higher education since fiscal year 2006 (FY06). Data are disaggregated by fiscal year, segment, institution, and student residency. These annual rates are based on full-time, undergraduate, state-supported tuition and mandatory fees, as published in the fall. This dataset contains two versions of tuition and mandatory fee data: <b>1) Nominal/Published Rates:</b> the published tuition and fees for a given year, reflecting the actual cost at the time. <b>2) Inflation-Adjusted Rates:</b> tuition and fees adjusted for inflation using 2024 dollars, to provide a consistent comparison of the cost of college over time. Because a fiscal year straddles two different calendar years, the calendar year and fiscal year will not always match. For example, FY 2025 runs from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025. - Columns ADJ_TUITION_2024, ADJ_MAND_FEES_2024, and ADJ_TUITION_AND_MAND_FEES_2024 are adjusted for inflation using the <a href="https://www.bls.gov/cpi/tables/supplemental-files/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U)</a> from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Rates are converted to 2024 dollars to allow for consistence comparisons over time.
