Revision of the fish management plan for American shad and river herring American shad, hickory shad, alewife and blueback herring public information document

In recent years, landings of shad and river herring have declined dramatically along the east coast. This document briefly discusses American shad, hickory shad, alewife and blueback herring (collectively termed alosids) life history and the problems associated with this decline. This public information document (PID) summarizes the status of the stocks, current ocean and inriver fisheries, and monitoring and information needs.
