This file contains the links to the dataset employed in the paper "Toponymy, landscape and its dynamics at a local scale: analysis using GIS and geostatistics," that presents an innovative methodological framework that integrates GIS-based analysis and statistical tools to explore the relationship between landscape classification and the semantic dimension of place names. Using the comarca (region) of Urola-Kosta (Basque Country, Spain) as a case study, and employing high-resolution open data provided by public administrations, we show how toponymy can act as a cultural and historical palimpsest, complementing conventional approaches to landscape analysis. The novelty of our research lies in the combined use of texture and density metrics applied to place names, which offers replicable indicators for landscape characterization. Beyond the methodological contribution, the study reinforces the concept of the Toponymic Cultural Landscape (TCL), highlighting the role of place names as both descriptors of landscape and repositories of cultural memory, thereby linking intangible heritage with spatial analysis. While focused on a northern Spanish Atlantic landscape, the methodology can be readily applied to other geographical contexts, making it relevant to a wide international readership.
