pep27 mutant suppressed DSS-induced colitis

pep27 mutant, previously reported as avirulent and live vaccine is proposed to suppress immune regulated disorders eliciting long lasting immunity. However dysregulation of mucosal immune response involved in the pathogenesis of Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and its potentially increasing worldwide prevalence due to failure in conventional therapy, an urgent medical need to prevent IBD disease relapse are prerequisite. Thus, our research is aimed to elucidate the pep27 mutant immunization response following oral administration of dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in mice that mimic clinical demonstrations of ulcerative colitis in humans and to provide potential insights into the underlying mechanism.
