Dicyemida and Orthonectida are two groups of highly morphological simplified worm-like parasites were considered Mesozoa – a transitional link between protists and multicellular animals. Genomic data for orthonectids has confirmed that they are highly simplified spiralians and possess a reduced set of genes implicated in the metazoan development. There is no large-scale genomic data for dicyemids, however, chromatin diminution, genome rearrangements, and generation of extrachromosomal circular DNA in their genome are assumed to take place during development of their somatic cells. We obtained genomic data for one Dicyema species to perform phylogenomic analyses.
