资源简介:
Clerks of Petty Sessions in smaller country towns had the additional responsibility of receiving money due to the government for various purposes (not restricted to the business of the Court) because the appropriate office was not represented locally. This money included fines, fees and various kinds of licenses. Cash books were retained for the purpose of documenting the receipt and dispersal of these moneys. The information was entered into a cashbook over a two page spread. The page on the left had side recorded the cash received and that on the right hand gave the details of the dispersal. The following details were recorded regarding receipts: date, from whom received; for what; ledger folio number; public revenue account; public moneys account and daily total. The credit side of the ledger showed how the money was dispersed - usually by being paid into a local bank.
