ERC Artsoundscapes project – Acoustic measurements of a selection of rock art sites in Cadiz (Spain)

Data collected in the framework of the ERC project "The sound of special places: exploring rock art soundscapes and the sacred" (acronym: Artsoundscapes, Grant Agreement No. 787842, PI ICREA Research Professor Margarita Díaz-Andreu) that has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. The project focuses on the relationship between archaeoacoustics and rock art. This dataset includes a set of impulse responses in various formats gathered in a selection of rock art sites in Cadiz (Andalusia, Spain). Fieldwork was conducted in June 2021, by Lidia Alvarez-Morales, Neemias Santos da Rosa, Laura Fernández Macías, María Lazarich and Margarita Díaz-Andreu, with help of some members of some colleagues from the research group PAIDI HUM-812 of the University of Cadiz. Acoustic data was post-processed by Lidia Alvarez-Morales and Daniel Benítez-Aragón. The data is organised into 10 folders, one for each rock art site studied during the fieldwork campaign. Each subfolder contains the IR set in a specific format, being: Filename - BIN (folder)Description - This folder contains a set of binaural Impulse Responses (BIRs) rendered from the 3rd-order Ambisonics files included in the W_1AMBI folder. This was performed with the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Reaper v6.64, along with the IEM Binaural Decoder v0.6.3 plugin. Such BIRs are saved in 2-channel tracks in .WAV (Waveform Audio File Format), 32 bits, 48 kHz. Filename - Omni (folder) Description - This folder contains a set of omnidirectional Impulse Responses (IRs) gathered with an omnidirectional microphone (micW n201) together with an audio device (Zoom F4) by using EASERA 1.2 software tool. Such IRs are stored in 1-channel tracks in .WAV (Waveform Audio File Format), 32 bits, 48 kHz. Filename - W_3AMBI (folder)Description - This folder contains a set of 3rd-order B-Format (Ambix - WYZX) Impulse Responses (IRs) obtained using the SIMO MatLab script (https://doi.org/10.34810/data629) from the .W64 (Sony's Wave64 Format) audio recordings registered with the 19-capsule Ambisonics microphone array (Zylia ZM-1) and the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Plogue Bidule 0.9762 during the fieldwork campaign. Such IRs are saved in 16-channel tracks in .WAV (Waveform Audio File Format), 32 bits, 48 kHz.
