资源简介:
This thesis explored how changing transportation modes (modal shift) can reduce road safety fatalities and serious injuries (FSI). Four studies were conducted: The first estimated FSI across nine transport modes, finding public transport users at lower risk. The second quantified how shifting to public transport reduces FSI, confirming significant safety benefits. The third examined transport experts' views, revealing that socio-economic factors, not just safety, influence transport choices. The fourth study explored transport users' perspectives, showing safety matters but other factors are crucial. The research highlighted that promoting public transport, considering socio-economic influences, is key to enhancing road safety.
