Deen Maar Habitat Restoration Project

The project aims to enhance and protect the habitat (direct-seeding, tubestock planting) of significant coastal bird and mammal species recently discovered within the coastal dune areas adjacent to the Deen Maar wetlands and lake systems (Yambuk, SW Victoria). Specifically the project aims to restore the state-endangered (FFG Act, Vic) Damp Sands Herb-rich Woodland which has been entirely removed from the site via historic agricultural land use practices, and is a key ecological community that is home to a variety of endangered faunal, bird, reptile and amphibian species such as the Southern Brown Bandicoot, Long-Nosed Potoroo, White-Footed Dunnart and Growling Grass Frog.
