The goal of this study was to investigate the role of the transcription factor FoxO1 in facet joint osteoarthritis (FJOA), a form of osteoarthritis commonly observed in middle-aged to elderly individuals but relatively under-researched. Using a Col2a1-creERT knock-in mouse model, the research sought to explore the potential effects of Fox01 deletion on the development of FJOA and to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) that could shed light on the molecular mechanisms of FJOA. Through bioinformatics analysis, the study aimed to identify potential key contributors to FJOA in the absence of FoxO1. The ultimate goal was to contribute to a better understanding of FJOA and potentially facilitate the development of new therapeutic strategies. The relevance of this study is underscored by the need to understand the pathogenesis of FJOA, particularly given its prevalence among older adults, and to identify novel targets for treatment.
