International Organizations' Deliberative Institutional Design

Institutional structures of International Organizations (IOs) differ in facilitating deliberation between state actors. This is captured by a Diplomatic Deliberative Design Index (DDDI). The DDDI databases (DDDI disaggregated data & DDDI aggregated data) have been developed as part of the research project “The Design of International Organizations. Fostering Diplomatic Deliberation?”, which was funded by the German Research Council DFG under the grant number PA 1257/5-1; PA 1257/5-2. The datasets provide information on how the institutional rules and provisions of 114 IOs seek to regulate the extent of deliberation taking place in negotiations between state officials in the day-to-day operation of IOs.
