Raiders of the low luminosity state in Be X-ray transients

We propose to observe any Be Xray transient after its next typeII outburstduring a potential quasistable lowluminosity plateau phase that has beenidentified in several sources. The origin of this plateau phase is still unclearand could be due to the cooling of an accretion heated neutron star crust or dueto residual accretion onto the neutron star surface at very low rates. Crustalcooling has been well studied in low magnetic field neutron stars where themagnetic field does not play a r^ant role, but not much is known about howmuch this process could be affected by the high magnetic fields found of theneutron stars in Be Xray transients.
