A new geodatabase of fuel treatments across federal lands in the USA

The Treatment Wildfire Interagency Geodatabase (TWIG) contains geospatial records of forest management activities that modify the quantity or arrangement of fuel. Such activites are commonly called "fuel treatments." This archived version of TWIG contains collated records from two major federal systems: FACTS (Forest ACtivity Tracking System), used primarily by the U.S. Forest Service, and NFPORS (National Fire Plan Operations and Reporting System), used primarily by agencies in the U.S. Department of the Interior. TWIG was developed by the Southwest Ecological Restoration Institutes (SWERI) to facilitate assessment of existing fuel treatments, plan future treatments, and monitor the continued interactions of treatments and wildfire. TWIG is designed to meet the needs of multiple end users, including congressional representatives and staffers, land managers, engaged citizens, and researchers interested in wildfire-fuel treatment interactions.
