利用美国MODIS卫星数据,结合气象数据和调查数据,以及虫害测报模型等,通过数字地球科学平台大数据分析处理,持续开展亚非沙漠蝗灾情遥感监测与评估研究,本次重点对埃及、沙特阿拉伯和也门沙漠蝗灾情进行动态更新。
2025年10月,沙漠蝗主要分布于埃及尼罗河上游河谷走廊及其毗邻区域、沙特阿拉伯西南部红海沿岸及毗邻山地,以及也门西部红海沿岸和南部亚丁湾沿岸,危害植被面积分别为1.53万公顷、1.71万公顷和1.87万公顷。预计未来两个月,沙漠蝗总体维持低水平活动。埃及尼罗河上游谷地缺乏连续降水,不利于持续繁殖,以零星成虫为主。沙特阿拉伯西南部红海沿岸及山前地带在局地降雨作用下或出现小规模繁殖,但种群基数较低。也门西部红海和南部亚丁湾沿岸的绿色植被将维持少量成虫与若虫,随着内陆植被进一步干燥,蝗虫活动主要局限于沿海岸带短距离移动,难以形成大范围迁飞。该时期为埃及和沙特阿拉伯粮食作物的主要种植季和生长季,以及也门粮食作物的主要收获季,故仍需持续关注沙漠蝗灾情动态,以防灾情反复对农牧业生产造成损失。
Leveraging US MODIS satellite data, combined with meteorological data, survey data, and pest forecasting models, this study has continuously carried out remote sensing monitoring and assessment research on desert locust disasters in Asia and Africa through big data analysis and processing on the Digital Earth Science Platform. This time, we focus on dynamically updating the desert locust disaster situations in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen.
In October 2025, desert locusts were mainly distributed in the upper Nile River valley corridor and its adjacent areas in Egypt, the southwestern Red Sea coast and adjacent mountainous areas of Saudi Arabia, as well as the western Red Sea coast and southern Gulf of Aden coast of Yemen. The areas of damaged vegetation were 15,300 hectares, 17,100 hectares, and 18,700 hectares, respectively.
It is expected that desert locusts will maintain low-level activity overall in the coming two months. The upper Nile River valley in Egypt lacks continuous precipitation, which is not conducive to sustained breeding, and the population is mainly composed of scattered adult locusts. The southwestern Red Sea coast and foothill zones of Saudi Arabia may experience small-scale breeding under the influence of local rainfall, but the population base is relatively low. The green vegetation along the western Red Sea and southern Gulf of Aden coasts of Yemen will maintain a small number of adult locusts and nymphs. As inland vegetation further dries up, locust activities will mainly be limited to short-distance movement along coastal zones, making large-scale migration difficult to form.
This period is the main planting and growing season for food crops in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and the main harvest season for food crops in Yemen. Therefore, it is still necessary to continuously pay attention to the dynamics of desert locust disasters to prevent losses to agricultural and animal husbandry production caused by the recurrence of disasters.
