RedScrap Raw Dataset of r/malaysia Marijuana Discussions (2014–2024)

This anonymized dataset contains raw Reddit discussions extracted from the r/malaysia subreddit using keyword-based retrieval focused on marijuana-related terms (“marijuana”, “cannabis”, “weed”, and “ganja”). Data were collected covering the period from 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2024 to enable longitudinal analysis of how online discourse in Malaysia has evolved across major policy shifts and regional developments. The dataset was extracted using RedScrap, a Python-based data collection tool developed to support netnographic study examining public perceptions of marijuana in Malaysia. RedScrap systematically retrieved threads and comments, removed duplicates, and exported the dataset in structured tabular format. This file represents the anonymized version of the raw output. All Reddit usernames and identifiable metadata have been removed to ensure ethical compliance and protect user anonymity. Only publicly accessible textual content has been retained. This dataset is intended for documentation, verification and reproducibility purposes as part of the research audit trail. No cleaning, coding, or thematic interpretation has been applied in this version; it reflects the raw comment-level data prior to analysis.
