**Objective**: This demonstration analysis identifies modifiable risk factors in elective surgery patients and develops targeted preoperative intervention strategies to reduce surgical complications and improve outcomes. By combining risk factor analysis with care gap identification and predictive modeling, we show how to create actionable frameworks that transform preoperative care from standardized protocols to personalized, risk-stratified intervention programs.

The analysis utilizes synthetic data from the `elective_surgery.surgery_ortho_synthetic_data` table, representing 5,000 elective orthopedic surgery patients from 2022-2024. The dataset includes detailed patient demographics, clinical characteristics, surgical outcomes, and cost information, capturing real-world patterns in surgical risk factors and their relationship to postoperative complications.
