Great Barrier Reef Catchment Regional Waterway Partnerships Social Monitoring Survey (2nd iteration)

This dataset is from a survey of 2,620 residents of coastal and regional Queensland, within the boundaries of five Regional Report Card (RRC) partnerships, including: (i) Wet Tropics Waterways (n=523), (ii) Dry Tropics Partnership for Healthy Waters (n=514), (iii) Mackay-Whitsunday-Isaac Healthy Rivers to Reef Partnership (n=463), (iv) Fitzroy Partnership for River Health (n=549), and (v) Gladstone Healthy Harbour Partnership (n=571). The data were collected using an online survey with two recruitment methods, including (a) online panel participants, and (b) social media recruiting led by each partnership within their region. This dataset represents the second iteration in a long-term social monitoring program that commenced in 2021, co-designed by the RRC partnerships and CSIRO researchers from the Social and Economic Long-Term Monitoring Program (SELTMP) https://research.csiro.au/seltmp. A report published on the SELTMP website (Curnock et al., 2022) provides details of the survey design and methods. The study was reviewed and approved by the CSIRO Social Science Human Research Ethics Committee (Approval #033/24) in accordance with Australia’s National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research (2007). Details about the purpose of the study, the handling and uses of the data, respondents’ anonymity and other ethical considerations were provided on the survey cover sheet, and all respondents’ participation was entirely voluntary.\nLineage: Survey respondents were English speaking residents over 18 years of age, living in one of five catchment regions adjacent to the Great Barrier Reef, during March and April 2024. Questionnaires were tailored to each region and were completed online by respondents. Data were initially collected by the Online Research Unit Pty Ltd., prior to custodianship and curation provided by CSIRO research team members.
