Dataset for Topical Mitomycin C Application Versus Intralesional Corticosteroid Injection in the Management of Caustic Esophageal Strictures in Pediatrics: A Randomized Controlled Trial

This dataset supports the randomized controlled trial titled “Topical Mitomycin C Application Versus Intralesional Corticosteroid Injection in the Management of Caustic Esophageal Strictures in Pediatrics” conducted at the Pediatric Surgery Department, Ain Shams University Hospitals, between May 2022 and July 2025.

The dataset includes anonymized clinical information from 38 pediatric patients with caustic esophageal strictures. Collected variables include demographic data, type of corrosive substance ingested, dysphagia score (DS), stricture length, follow-up outcomes, and complications.

Data were recorded and analyzed using Microsoft Excel (.xlsx). Ethical approval was obtained from the Institutional Review Board at Ain Shams University (Approval No. 00006379), and all patient identifiers were removed prior to data inclusion.

This dataset may be valuable for comparative treatment outcome studies focusing on pediatric caustic esophageal stricture management and for meta-analyses of minimally invasive treatment strategies.
