Last data update: May 4, 2022 The Lake Simcoe Watershed landcover layer was created to produce a seamless cover for the watershed depicting current land cover using the best available data. The polygons are interpreted using 2018 orthophotography and assigned a land use code, natural heritage land uses are then further attributed based on the Ecological Land Classification (ELC). Non natural heritage features are further attributed with surface type. The land cover layer is used in the management of watershed-based planning by the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority (LSRCA). The layer was created by using the best available land cover data from LSRCA and MNR. This layer was created using air photo interpretation of 2018 Orthophotography.
Data was captured by heads up digitizing and air photo interpretation at a scale of 1:1500.
