Whole blood transcriptome of an experimental challenge in sheep carrying the R96C mutation in the SOCS2 gene

We performed an intramammary infection with a strain of Staphylococcus aureus in 14 Lacaune ewes, 7 of which carried the previously described mutation (Rupp et al., 2015) R96C in the SOCS2 gene, and the other 7 were not carriers. The research objective was to study transcriptional modifications related to the mutation during the immune response due to bacterial infection in order to highlight, in this context, the pathways that can be regulated by the SOCS-2 protein and to identify molecules in interaction.
