D2.4.2 Database of observed flood events - Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021-2027

This report summarizes the work carried out for Activity 2.4 of the Interreg Italy-Croatia STRENGTH project that regards Deliverable D.2.4.2 "Database of observed flood events". The main objective of this deliverable is to identify and classify observed storm-impact information for the coast of the Municipality of Ravenna (Emilia-Romagna, Italy), the Croatian coastline and Kaŝtela (Split) in order to create storm event databases. The database design is inspired by the European Coastal Flood Awareness System (ECFAS) database of resources and by the RISC-KIT storm-impact nomenclature (Souto-Ceccon et al., 2025). For the case of Ravenna, the regional “in_Storm” approach used by the Emilia-Romagna Geological, Soil and Seismic Area (AGSS) to record coastal-storm impacts was the base for the development of the italian database. For the case of Croatian coast, the Adriatic Storm Surge catalogue (Međugorac et al., 2025) was used to create the same type of database, with focus on the area of Kaŝtela. The deliverable consists in two databases with the list of storms that affected the mentioned regions, including impacts and storm characteristics.
