Species occurrence data Abies Densa

Dataset Description: This dataset contains spatially-explicit species occurrence data for Abies densa (Bhutan fir), a subalpine conifer endemic to the Eastern Himalayas, collected across Bhutan for species distribution modeling and climate change impact assessment. The dataset includes 1,206 high-quality, spatially-thinned georeferenced occurrence records derived from the 2022 National Forest Inventory of Bhutan, representing the species' distribution across elevational gradients from 2,857 to 4,198 meters above sea level. The data underwent rigorous quality control including removal of duplicates, geographic outliers, and imprecise coordinates, followed by spatial thinning with a minimum 1 km distance between records to reduce sampling bias and spatial autocorrelation. These occurrence records span Bhutan's major biogeographic regions, with highest concentrations in the districts of Bumthang, Trongsa, Mongar, and Trashigang, encompassing the species' preferred cool subalpine forest habitats characterized by high precipitation (1,500-2,500 mm annually) and low mean temperatures (below 10°C). This dataset is particularly valuable for conservation planning, climate change vulnerability assessments, and biogeographic research in the Eastern Himalayas, as it represents the most comprehensive collection of Abies densa occurrence data available for Bhutan and supports ensemble species distribution modeling under current and future climate scenarios.
