Images and GIS Data from an Archaeological Evaluation at Tar Farm Solar Farm, Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire, 2022

This digital archive contains images and GIS data from an archaeological evaluation of land at Tar Farm, Stanton Harcourt, Oxfordshire. The work was undertaken by Oxford Archaeology in September and October 2022. A total of 236 trenches were excavated across the site. Three distinct areas of archaeological activity were identified, towards the north, centre and south-west of the site. In the north-western area of the site features dating from the Late Iron Age to the medieval period were recorded, including a possible Iron Age banjo enclosure. In the centre of the site fifty-five features were identified; these have been interpreted as burials, including both cremations and inhumations. At the southernmost part of the site a Roman urned cremation and an undated ditch were recorded. Finds retrieved included pottery sherds, Roman coins, and other fragments of metal artefacts.
