Image of your father

This work, as abn abstracted portrait of an imaginary father figure,relates to the ongoing research into gestural abstraction that has become a major component of the postmodernist condition as it seeks to critique the role of vision, specifically with reference to a Cartesian model of the disembodied subject viewing the object from afar and of the gaze as appropriating its object and as the means of dominating the other.
Research Significance
The exhibition venue " Artist Run Space, Upstairs at the Napier" is a non-profit artist run space that has a Board of Directors with 8 members who peer review all exhibitions and artists. The board of directors has been instrumental in implementing Artist Run Initiatives in Australia, ARI since 2004. The thematic exhibition 'BOOM BOOM" - Ideal, Ideal, Ideal, Knowledge, Knowledge, Knowledge, Boom, Boom, Boom. Celebrates Neo - Dada within a contemporary context. It's title referring to Dadaist credo and the innovative sound poems of Hugo Ball in 1916.
Research Contribution
The work acts to research collective investigations into semiotics and historical visual language tics and definition of indeterminable knowledge in a NEO-DADA contemporary visual art practice.
