Harmonized Soil Physical Units Map for the Dutch-German border region

Understanding and modelling the hydrological system in the Dutch–German border region requires detailed knowledge of soils and their water retention and hydraulic conductivity characteristics. However, differences in soil classification between the Netherlands and Germany limit the direct use of these datasets in cross-border hydrological modelling. Therefore, a transboundary harmonized soil physical units map for a part of the Dutch-German border region was created. The German BUEK250 classification is translated to the Dutch BOFEK clusters. <br>This folder contains all files and documentation to this project. This includes a python script to derive similar maps for different study areas in a reproducible and transparent way.
