NASTRO - NArrative-linked STrategic Objectives dataset

Strategic Communication Objectives (SCOs) represent the high-level communicative intentions underlying political, informational, and disinformation discourse. Rather than focusing exclusively on the explicit semantic content of a message, SCOs aim to capture the broader strategic purpose pursued by the sender, such as reinforcing ideological identity, legitimising political decisions, weakening adversaries, or promoting social change. This dataset introduces a new multilingual and multi-topic benchmark for Strategic Communication Objectives classification and evaluation. The resource was constructed by manually linking previously annotated narratives and sub-narratives from existing datasets to a unified taxonomy of seven strategic communication objectives. The resulting corpus contains 2,798 instances distributed across multiple domains, including diplomacy, climate change, and the Russia--Ukraine war, covering six languages and supporting both supervised and zero-shot evaluation settings. Each instance may be associated with multiple objectives and includes labels representing explicit support, partial alignment, or absence of the corresponding objective.
